Victor/Victoria

Victor/Victoria is set in Paris, where Victoria Grant, an English soprano who is out of work and out of money, takes the advice of a nightclub performer named Toddy and reinvents herself as Count Victor Grazinsky, a man whose act is impersonating a woman. The disguise makes her the talk of the city, and a Chicago gangster who falls for her sets out to prove the Count is not what he seems. Blake Edwards adapted his own 1982 film for the stage, with music by Henry Mancini and Frank Wildhorn, and Julie Andrews played the title role on Broadway in 1995.
