Privacy policy.
Last updated: July 28, 2026
Stagestruck is a personal tracker and recommendation tool for musical theater. This policy covers what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short because the app collects little.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign up we store your email address and the credentials you use to sign in.
- What you add. Your ratings, the shows and experiences you log, your personal notes, and any tag votes, tag suggestions, or vocabulary proposals you make. Recommendations you dismiss are recorded so we can keep them out of your lists.
- Days you use the app. While you are signed in, we note the date when you visit so we can count active members in aggregate. Just the date. Nothing about what you looked at or where you were.
- Technical data. Standard request logs and anonymized performance metrics, such as page load timing, that keep the app running and fast. Like most web services, request logs include an IP address, from which we may derive an approximate region (never a precise location). These are not used to track you across other sites.
How we use it
- To run your account and save your work.
- To generate your recommendations. Your ratings and logs are the signal the recommendation engine reads.
- To show community activity in aggregate. Pages like Buzz display counts and average ratings across all users. They never show who rated a show or reveal any one person's ratings.
Who can see your data
Your ratings, logs, and notes are private to your account, and that privacy is enforced at every layer of the app, not just hidden from view. No other user can see them. Community features work only on aggregates: a show's average rating and review count are visible, but the individual ratings behind them, and your identity, are not.
Comments you post are public, along with the public name you chose. Everything else you record stays private to your account.
Aggregate information
We may use and share information in aggregate form, for example how many people have logged a show, how highly a show is rated, or how popular a show is in a region. Aggregates are always drawn from many accounts together and never include your identity, your individual ratings, or anything that could reasonably be traced back to you.
This can include sharing demand counts with industry partners, such as the producers who plan tours and the venues that book them, so shows reach the cities that want them.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to host the app, store data, and handle sign-in. They process data only to provide those services. We do not use advertising networks, and we do not sell or share your personal information.
Links to streaming services
Show pages link out to Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music so you can listen. Some of these are affiliate links, which may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you. Following a link does not send your Stagestruck identity to the streaming service.
The theater map
Your journal can show your theaters on a map. The map background loads from OpenFreeMap, a third-party tile service, and your browser requests only the tiles for the area on screen, which is roughly where your theaters are. Those requests carry no account information and nothing about which theaters are yours. If you never open the map, no tile request is made.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices
You can edit or remove your ratings, logs, and notes at any time inside the app. To delete your account and everything attached to it, open Settings and choose Delete your account. It happens right away, and we cannot undo it afterwards.
You can also download a copy of everything you have added, at any time and at no cost, from the same Settings page or from this link. That covers your log, your ratings, your notes, the shows you saved, your votes and suggestions, and your settings.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal information goes with it. Aggregate statistics your activity contributed to may persist, since they no longer identify you: counts of how many people used the app on a given day, for example, hold no record of who those people were.
Children
Stagestruck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Larger changes will be noted in the app.
