Andrew Lloyd Webber's version of the fairy tale is set in Belleville, a kingdom preoccupied with beauty, where Cinderella is the scruffy outcast the town blames for everything and her friend Prince Sebastian is next in line only because his heroic older brother went missing. Emerald Fennell wrote the book and David Zippel the lyrics. It opened in London in 2021 as Cinderella, then was rewritten and retitled for Broadway in 2023.
