Start ratingMerrily We Roll Along is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, based on the 1934 Kaufman and Hart play. It tells its story in reverse, starting with composer Franklin Shepard as a jaded producer in 1976 and moving backward to his idealistic youth and the friendships that fell apart. It opened on Broadway in 1981.
