Start ratingMoscow, Cheryomushki is a satirical operetta by Dmitri Shostakovich, set in the late 1950s as new high-rise apartment blocks rise on the edge of Moscow. It follows a group of Muscovites desperate to be rehoused in the new district called Cheryomushki, and pokes fun at the housing shortages and petty corruption of Soviet life.
