Redhead is set in a London wax museum in the 1880s. When an actress is strangled by a mystery man, the museum's waxworker, Essie Whimple, is asked to sculpt a tableau of the crime, and in trying to win the attention of the murdered woman's stage partner, Essie ends up drawing the real killer's attention to herself.
