An Italian musical comedy by Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini with music by Armando Trovajoli, first staged at Rome's Teatro Sistina in 1962. Set in 19th-century papal Rome, it follows Rugantino, a boastful and broke layabout from commedia dell'arte tradition, whose schemes and a love affair lead him into trouble. It is best known for the song Roma nun fa' la stupida stasera.
