Set in the fading days of American vaudeville, this musical follows Rose, a relentless stage mother who pushes her two daughters toward show business. As her favored child fades and her other daughter rises into burlesque as stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, Rose confronts what her ambition has cost. It is loosely based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee.
