Start ratingThis is the Royal Shakespeare Company's musical version of Shakespeare's early comedy, with a book and lyrics by director Trevor Nunn and a pop score by Guy Woolfenden. It follows two sets of twins, separated at birth and given the same names, whose chance reunion in a modern Mediterranean tourist town sets off a day of mistaken identity and chaos. The production opened at the RSC in 1976 and later transferred to the Aldwych Theatre in the West End, where it won the 1977 Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
