Tintypes is a musical revue set in turn-of-the-century America, roughly 1890 to 1917. Five performers play a mix of historical figures, including Theodore Roosevelt and Emma Goldman, and composite immigrant and working-class characters, singing period songs by writers such as George M. Cohan and Scott Joplin to trace the country's growing pains as it industrializes. It opened on Broadway at the John Golden Theatre in 1980 and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical.
