Movin' Out is a dance musical conceived and choreographed by Twyla Tharp, set to the songs of Billy Joel. With characters drawn from Joel's lyrics, it follows a group of Long Island friends from the 1960s through the Vietnam War and its aftermath. The dancers do not sing: a pianist and band perform the vocals above the stage.
