A musical by Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit based on Gaston Leroux's novel The Phantom of the Opera. A disfigured man who lives beneath the Paris Opera House mentors and falls in love with a young singer named Christine. It premiered in Houston in 1991 and is distinct from the Andrew Lloyd Webber version.
