Set in Germany under the Nazis, it follows Liesel, a foster child who starts stealing books as she learns to read. Her foster parents hide a Jewish man in their basement, and Liesel gets to know him as the war closes in around the household. Adapted from Markus Zusak's novel by Jodi Picoult and Timothy Allen McDonald, it had its world premiere at the Octagon Theatre Bolton in 2022.
