Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical is based on T. S. Eliot's poetry collection Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. A tribe of cats called the Jellicles gathers for a yearly ball where one of them will be chosen to be reborn into a new life. It is mostly sung and danced, with little spoken dialogue.
