A Rodgers and Hart musical set in 1930s Chicago that follows Joey Evans, a charming and dishonest nightclub emcee. He drops a sweet young woman for a wealthy married socialite who bankrolls his own club, then finds himself caught between the affair and a blackmail scheme. It is based on John O'Hara's short stories.
