Swept Away

Swept Away is inspired by a real 1888 shipwreck off New Bedford, Massachusetts, in which the surviving crew resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. It follows four whalers stranded together for weeks after their ship sinks, forcing them to confront what they did to survive and whether they can be forgiven. The show is built around songs by the Avett Brothers, mostly from their album Mignonette.
