Shuffle Along

Shuffle Along, or, the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed tells the story behind the original 1921 Broadway hit Shuffle Along: the four Black writers and performers who created it and what happened to them after its success. It uses the original songs by Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake but sets aside most of the 1921 show's own plot about a crooked mayoral election.
