Start ratingSet in a West Virginia coal town in 1962, the musical follows fourteen-year-old Pete and his older brother Jake, whose father died in a mine explosion ten years earlier. When the coal company decides to reopen the mine, Pete sets out with a friend and a pack of dynamite, determined to blow it up before Jake and the other miners can be sent back down. It premiered at Barrington Stage Company in 2006, with music by Chris Miller, lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and a book by Mariana Elder.
