Richard Rodgers' last musical, based on the John van Druten play and the Kathryn Forbes memoir behind it. It follows the Hansens, a Norwegian immigrant family in San Francisco in the early 1900s, seen through the eyes of the eldest daughter Katrin as she works toward becoming a writer, with Mama holding the household together. It ran on Broadway in 1979 with Liv Ullmann as Mama.
