Based on E.L. Doctorow's novel, this musical weaves together three groups in early 20th-century America: a wealthy white suburban family, a Harlem musician named Coalhouse Walker Jr., and a Jewish immigrant named Tateh and his daughter. Their lives collide against real historical figures and events. Music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, book by Terrence McNally.
