Fame

Fame is set at New York City's High School of Performing Arts, where a class of teenagers spends four years training for careers on stage. It follows students including Carmen, who wants stardom right away, and Schlomo, a violinist from a musical family, as their ambitions run up against what the school and their own lives ask of them. David De Silva, who produced the 1980 film it is based on, conceived the stage version, and its score is almost entirely new apart from the title song.
