A musical comedy based on the 1982 film, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and book by Robert Horn. It follows Michael Dorsey, a talented but difficult actor who can't get cast, so he disguises himself as a woman named Dorothy Michaels, lands a role, and then has to keep up the deception. It premiered in Chicago in 2018 before opening on Broadway in 2019.
