42nd Street is set in 1933 and follows the making of a Broadway show called Pretty Lady. When the star is injured, young chorus dancer Peggy Sawyer gets her chance to step into the lead. The score uses Harry Warren and Al Dubin songs, and it is based on the 1933 film.
